If anyone hasn't found the best thing to fill sandbags with (well of course excepting sand..!) then this is what we use... horse bedding!


Look for something in big 20kg bales called miscanthus or elephant grass.
It stands getting wet as it dries out easily, is heavy enough to look good and also to be able to stack up.
One bag (around £6-8) fills about 10 sandbags.

We used tree bark in about 15 bags in 2009 and they are still going strong!

Suppose not that far away from miscanthus! We have 40 now.......!!
